The other day, our doctor decided to do an ultrasound to check on Tyler's growth. They discovered that he is a little too small for his age. He weighed in at 3lbs 3oz which is in the tenth percentile for his age. I really wasn't surprised since Mom and Amy have both had small babies. I'm just glad to hear that he weighs more than my birth weight of 2lbs 12oz. He doesn't seem too small to me since there are still 7 weeks to go but they want to keep a close eye on him. So the doctor is sending me to have a stress test done twice a week. I went into the hospital today for my first monitoring. Tyler didn't seem to like those monitors on my belly very much. He was kicking and wiggling around like crazy. All that kicking was good news to the doctors so Tyler passed his test today :-). He still hasn't slowed down much since I got back home. He is still kicking away in there. I just love every little movement. It's so exciting to feel him moving all around.

Nursery
Things are really starting to come together as we prepare for our long awaited son! He now has a name and a completed nursery. With your help, we've decided to name him, Tyler Michael Smith. Tyler was actually our favorite name and we were glad to see many of you liked that name as well.
Neal worked long and hard on the nursery and it turned out so cute! We went with a train theme to match Neal's grandpa's train that now circles the top of the room. We were lucky to find train bedding and accessories to match. Of course Neal can't do anything "ordinary" so he added lighting around the train track and behind Tyler's name hanging on the wall. It really looks great and will give off a nice soft light when I am trying to get him back to sleep in the middle of the night. Now, all we have to do is wait for this little guy to arrive!

Train
The nursery is almost complete, and after hours of work it has turned out pretty nice. A lot of the colors and decor that Laura picked out have turned out great. I have uploaded a video of the train coming through the wall of the nursery. After everything is complete, I will show some more pictures. But for now you only get a taste. I have probably gone a little bit eletronic crazy but it will be well worth it. :-)

Baby Update
I can't believe I am halfway through my pregnancy now! The time has really been flying by. At the beginning of the week, I finally began to feel him move. It has been so neat to feel him everyday. This has been one thing I've been looking forward to the most.

The Name Game
Now that we know it is a boy, we have the challenging task of picking just the right name. We've started a list of boy's names and we both have our favorites in mind. We'd love to hear what you think is the best name for our little boy. So please vote on our pole and post new names to our blog if you have any suggestions. You can post to the blog without registering by first clicking on the word "comment" under this post and then clicking on the circle next to the words "Name/URL". Then type in your name in the box and leave us ideas for names. Thanks for your help in choosing the perfect name!

It's a BOY!
We had our 18 week ultrasound on Wednesday and were thrilled to find out that we are having a boy! It's a good thing or I would be running all over town returning a lot of clothes and baby bedding! Everything looked good on the ultrasound. He was measuring right where he was supposed to and he looks healthy. We do have one active little boy though. I think Neal and I are really going to have our hands full! He was doing somersaults, spinning, kicking, and punching the entire time during the ultrasound. He's done that every time we've seen him. I'm sure pretty soon when he gets a little bigger, I'll be feeling him move all day and night! He's only 7 ounces right now but he is right on target. Everything has been going well for me. I'm feeling great and enjoying every minute of this pregnancy!

Ultrasound
We went in for another ultrasound on Friday and we were thrilled when they said they were already able to identify the sex of our new baby...Are you ready...DRUM ROLL PLEASE...It's a BOY! Well at least that is their best guess right now. It is still pretty early to tell and they told us not to run out and buy anything yet (yeah right!) but the Ultrasound Technician sounded pretty certain. We have another ultrasound scheduled in 4 weeks so they will double check the sex of the baby then. So don't change your vote yet, the verdict is still out :-)
This is a side profile. It's a little hard to tell.
Okay, so I can't really tell it's a boy...so I guess I'll have to take their word for it!

Big News!
Have you heard the news? Neal and I are finally having a baby! I know the Grandparents have been waiting for this day for a long time and it is finally here! We couldn't be any happier. This is a picture of our little baby at 10 weeks. The little black spots on the baby's head is the brain and you can begin to see little arm and leg buds. So what do you think? A girl? A boy? Let us know what you think by answering our poll.
We shared the big news with Gina, Jason, and Busia while they were at our house for a cookout. We snuck Ethan out of the pool and put an "I'm going to be a big cousin" shirt on him and let him walk by everyone. It only took a couple of seconds and they caught on to the surprise. It was a fun way to share the news.
